ISSUE

While she's at work, he gives in to drugs... and her dreams go up in smoke.

THE ISSUE:

Peer pressure that leads to teenage crime and violence is at its prime when youth are without adult supervision. Statistics show that violent juvenile crime triples when school lets out and the hours between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. are when kids are most likely to commit crimes, become victims of violent crime, be in or cause a car crash, smoke or experiment with other dangerous drugs.  SEE STATS

RESULTS:

United Way is helping keep our youth safe and out of trouble through funded community partners that focus on after-school programs. And kids that make it through these years without getting involved in crime or drugs are less likely to commit adult crimes.  SEE ACTIONS
